The mechanics of how we sell real estate does not define the REALTOR. Instead,
a REALTOR is defined by what he or she thinks and feels, more a philosophy of
doing business than the actual practice. It is the "Soul" of the practitioner.
This soul is found in the Code of Ethics to which we all adhere.
*
It is from our Code of Ethics that we define how agents
conduct their business, how we conduct our own business
with agents and with the public and it is from our Code of Ethics
that a sense of commitment to the industry is derived.
Our Code of Ethics is what helps us interface with the practicalities
of the real world to create a commitment greater than to just ourselves.
Without our Code of Ethics, a REALTOR would be
just a real estate agent selling houses.
*
It is imperative that our industry champion the ideals
of the REALTOR movement and not become defined by the "Bottom Line."
Sometimes the biggest, the fastest, the smartest, the most advanced
or the "slickest" is not the best. Instead, it is in the ideals
to which we ascribe
that should define the men or women of our industry. If we concentrate
on ideals, the other things that we use to measure success happen.

What is G.R.I.? The G.R.I. designation (Graduate REALTOR
Institute) is the most basic designation recognized by the National Association
of REALTORS. It signifies that the designee has taken ninety hours of class instruction
over and above the basic licensure requirements of the state. The designee will
have taken classes that deal with the fundamentals of sales, brokerage and investments.
What is C.R.S.? While many people hold the G.R.I.
designation (Graduate REALTOR Institute), a C.R.S.(Certified Residential Specialist)
is a designation earned by less than 5% of those who are licensed to sell real
estate. It is a nationally recognized award and is given only by the National
Association of REALTORS(N.A.R.) to members who have met very strict requirements.
The C.R.S. Designation is designed to assist members wanting to offer the
best possible service to the public and who want to excel in the competitive
marketplace. The holder of the C.R.S. Designation is a leader in the industry.
Membership represents a commitment to excellence, education and the ability
to achieve both business and professional expectations.
When you buy or sell a home, you want the transaction to proceed swiftly
and efficiently. That is why you should look for someone with special
expertise in listing, selling, investment and taxes. Someone with a
proven record of experience. Someone you can trust. Only those with
the C.R.S. Designation have met rigid requirements indicating that they
can do all this for you.
What is C.R.B.? The National
Association of REALTORS, in an effort to promote excellence
in real estate brokerage management established the Certified Real Estate
Brokerage Manager Designation in 1969. Nationally less than 1% of all real
estate agents have been able to earn the C.R.B. designation. This prestigious
symbol signifies a degree of excellence. It says an individual has achieved
a superior level of expertise, education, and experience and is recognized
as one of the best in the industry.
The C.R.B. designee remains up-to-date on the latest real estate trends
and issues and establishes valuable business contacts across the country.
C.R.B. Designees have taken specialized courses dealing with the changes
in today's market place. They are familiar with new technology and trends
in finance, marketing and strategic planning. If these qualifiacations are
important to you seek out the counsel of a C.R.B. Designee.
What is L.T.G.? For more than a
decade the L.T.G. (Leadership Training Graduate) designation has helped
real estate's highest achievers stay on top and on track. With a unique
focus on personal and prefoessional development, the designation
recognizes those real estate agents who excel through the dynamic combination
of education and experience. Less than 1/10 of one percent of all REALTORS
are able to qualify for this designation of excellence. To make buying and
selling easier you need the services of someone that other agents respect. Those who hold the L.T.G. designation could only have earned
it if their peers recognize them as a leader.
What is R.A.M.? The R.A.M. (Real
Estate Alumni of Michigan) designation is a "Michigan Only" designation. It was established in 1953 to identify real estate
professionals who had earned an award known as the Certificate in Real Estate.
Originally assocated with the University of Michigan the R.A.M. designation
is now handled independently and achnowledges those who have saught education
in specialized areas of real estate including college level classes in:
- Property Law
- Residentail Construction
- General Business
- Business Marketing, taxation and accounting
- Computer skills
- Economics
- Communications
- Mathematics
A home is usually a persons most valuable asset. Do not entrust the buying
or selling of it to just anyone. There is more to buying or selling a house
than an ad in the paper or a sign in a yard. To assure yourself that you
are working with the very best agent you can select, seek the counsel one
who holds the R.A.M. designation.
